Development Committee
The role of the Board of Trustees Development Committee is to advise and assist the President of the University and Vice President for University Relations in leading the fund raising efforts for Maryland. The Committee guides the board in all fund raising matters. Specifically, the committee will help establish goals and objectives; will craft the campaign plan; and will assist in the development and execution of fundraising strategies. In addition members will help enlist additional volunteers and will promote greater awareness of and connections to the University by its alumni and friends.
Members of the Development Committee may be called upon to participate in personal outreach to prospective donors. As such, members of this committee are expected to be current donors of the University of Maryland College Park.
Specific expectations of the Development Committee include:
- Host at least one prospect screening session and/or a President's Advisory Committee meeting or Regional Advisory Committee meeting
- Serve as a "prospect host" for a prospect at a University function, i.e., basketball/football game, performing arts event, lecture, etc.
- Solicit three or more Colonnade Level ($1000) gift for the University
- Facilitate or participate in solicitations for various campaign priorities, including scholarships, the Riggs Alumni Center, and the President's Promise Initiative
- Assist in prospect discovery through professional and personal contacts with alumni and friends of the University.
